Ctrl_Space 控制空间
Ctrl_Space is an interactive installation that reimagines Michel Foucault’s theory of the Panopticon in the context of contemporary digital surveillance. The piece features three mechanical eyeballs that track the movement of viewers in real time using computer vision and servo motors. As visitors enter the space, the eyes follow them, simulating the unsettling experience of constant observation. Built with Python, OpenCV (YOLO algorithm), and Arduino, the system detects and responds to presence with lifelike precision. An integrated alarm is triggered when participants step outside a predefined frame—symbolizing unseen boundaries and the invisible power structures that regulate behavior in our surveilled society. Inspired by works like Blindness by Behnaz Farahi and Surveillance Bed by Julia Scher, Ctrl_Space critically engages with themes of visibility, agency, and the psychological effects of being watched. It prompts viewers to reflect on their roles as both subjects and participants in a data-driven world of algorithmic observation. Through Ctrl_Space, we confront the paradox of modern surveillance: where power is unseen, yet internalized; where to be seen is to be controlled. It is a poetic and technical inquiry into how surveillance has become embedded in the everyday—both subtly and profoundly. collaborate:Ailin Dong, Orus Mateo Castaño Suárez, Juan Sulca, Yu-Shien Yang 《控制空间》 是一件融合互动技术与社会批评的艺术装置,以福柯的“全景监狱”理论为灵感,探讨数字时代无处不在却难以察觉的监控权力。
